One of the most defining characteristics about a perfect summer day is the color blue of the sky. When you walk out of your door and look up at the sky, and see the intense blue, sometimes accented by perfect white clouds, breathe in the fresh air, and think of all of the nostalgia of summer: school vacations, playing at the pool with friends, going on family vacations to the beaches, remembering what innocence is all about.
Here in Costa Rica most mornings begin just like that. I start each day remembering the innocence of the earth, sky, clouds, and trees. Those beautiful blues inspired “Perfect Summer Sky”; a semi-precious stone necklace of quartz, kyanite, and rainbow moonstone on sterling silver wire.
When you wear it may it bring you back to the days of old, of innocence and youth, and memories of a perfect summer day.

Leaf Shadows. Have you ever been walking in a rain forest? If so, think back to the play of light between the brown of the forest floor and the various shades of green of the leaves of the plants and trees surrounding you. If not, pick up a copy of Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are (children’s section) and check out the illustrations.
The contrast of the earth tones is subtle yet enchanting. That is why for this tribute to the rain forest I used a large faceted smoky quartz centerpiece which draws your attention and then reflects the light to its adjacent components, surrounded by a hollow decorative silver bead, followed by high quality peridot, faceted and then smooth.
This unique combination of semi-precious stones and silver resulted in the beautiful semi-precious stone necklace you see here.

My brother is getting married. It will be one of the most eventful days of my life because my brother has been my best friend for the past 29 years. When we were growing up we NEVER fought (when’s the last time you heard that?)…all thanks to my mom telling us that we would always be there for each other and that we were not allowed to call each other names. As adults we lived together twice and had a blast!
When I got married I made my husband’s and my wedding bands. It is a great pleasure to take it off, show it to someone, and remember the hours of practice that went into it, the sweat, and determine. So, when Ben announced his marriage proposal, I announced my desire to have the pleasure of making their rings. They happily accepted and together we designed them.
Ben’s ring is a combination of white and rose gold, with the rose gold hand-textured. Sid’s ring is a decorated gold wire lined with white gold. They were made with love, dedication, determination, and team work (my husband did the filing). May they live happily ever after…
